In this episode of Light Transitions Radio, we talk with planetary emissary Frances Moore Lappé about food, and positive global transformation.
Frances Moore Lappé is the author or co-author of 18 books including the three-million copy Diet for a Small Planet. Her most recent work, released by Nation Books in September 2011, is EcoMind: Changing the Way We Think to Create the World We Want.
She is the cofounder of three organizations, including Food First: The Institute for Food and Development Policy and, more recently, the Small Planet Institute, a collaborative network for research and popular education seeking to bring democracy to life, which she leads with her daughter Anna Lappé. Frances and her daughter have also cofounded the Small Planet Fund, which channels resources to democratic social movements worldwide.
A special note from Robert:
Frances Moore Lappé is a planetary emissary who has indefatigably over the last 40+ years disseminated information on food/survival options as they pertain to a positive planetary future. She is a creode blazer who like Lewis Mumford, Arnold Toynbee, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Jane Goodall, Hazel Henderson, John Robbins, Buckminster Fuller, and many others, has stoked the fires of SpaceShip Earth logic.
Lappé’s Small Planet Institute, along with the World Future Council, the World Watch Institute, The Club of Rome, The Rocky Mountain Institute, and the seminal New Alchemy Institute, represent the innate nature of life to continuously organize and reinvent itself in the spirit of harmonic symbiosis, collective efficiency and spirited well being.
I view Frances’ work as timeless in nature. Axial thinkers such Frances translate and vet possibilities as they appear on the horizon; always steeped in timeless logic. The spark these possibilities provide elicits a memory of symbiotic planetary existence replete with a collective right livelihood existence – one with abundance, empowerment and spirited co-creation.
Over the decades, Frances has graciously pulled back the curtain on options for a positive planetary transformation. Now is the time for us – through empowerment – to embrace our options, walk our talk, and dance our dreams into being.
I believe our new world destination is at hand and awaits our collective embrace.
Thank you Frances Moore Lappé.
